LAGUNA ART STUDIO CLASSES

ADULTS:
These classes are open to beginners as well as advanced painters and taught in a relaxed art studio setting. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own level and to paint or draw in their own personal style.
Critiques and demonstrations deal with basic composition, color and use of the media as well as the understanding of value, color theory and expressive interpretation.

CHILDREN:
Students are exposed to a multitude of art media (including oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and pencil) while working on observational and drawing skills. Elementary color theory and perspective drawing is introduced along with the importance of rendering depth and form. The young eye is educated to the intricate play of light and shadow by drawing the five basic forms (sphere cube, cylinder, cone and pyramid) under a variety of lighting situations.

ADOLESCENTS & TEENS:
Young artists are encouraged to improve drawing and painting skills while working on perspective, shading and color theory. ARTISTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PAINT OR DRAW IN THEIR OWN PERSONAL STYLE. Critiques and demonstrations deal with basic composition, value, design, color theory, expressive interpretation and experimental uses of media.
Still life setups with controlled lighting and plein air opportunities are available but working from sketches along with photos or slides is fine.

Cost:
$25.00 a lesson for all studio classes which includes most materials for the children and Youth classes.
*** Parks and Recreation offers the classes taught at the Lang Park location. Please call or email for more information.
